Our table arrived!

Our living room / dining room

Earlier this week, I joked with Vicki that our furniture vendor probably thought he was being completely honest about the delivery date because he wrote “al jueves” (Thursday) on the receipt–he just didn’t say which Thursday. Whether that’s the explanation or not, I paid him a visit again this afternoon and to my surprise, found the table and chairs waiting. He further remembered that delivery was to be included and thus hired a truck on the spot and loaded it up. We are very thankful for this answer to prayer. The table and chairs are simple and inexpensive ($275 for all) and meet our needs perfectly. The table couldn’t have been 1cm wider and still fit through the doors, so we’re thankful for that, too.

Click on the picture to see a few more pics. I’ll take more of the house and surroundings in better light soon.

Tonight, Vicki and I ventured to the downtown market to buy many of the things that we can’t get in the local markets. We were relieved to find various types of cocoa, ground cinnamon, cloves, yeast, baking soda, and my favorite, Lea & Perrins Worcestershire sauce, aka salsa inglesa. I wanted to tell the shopkeeper that very few English speakers can pronounce “Worcestershire” either and that renaming it “English sauce” was perfectly brilliant. Upon purchasing all these ingredients, I realized that most are used for baking, and I realized that I haven’t had dessert in about a month, which, along with extensive walking at high altitude and two bouts of intestinal distress, has contributed to significant bodily shrinkage. Thus, we may have to restrict travel to these stores in the long run…

Please note that we have three seats open at the table and we can comfortably accommodate four more at the “desk” we had been using for our kitchen table. We are more or less ready for your visit 🙂

Yes, our common living space is small but very nicely finished. The kitchen is in the same room on the wall to my right. Ceramic floors are the most common (and practical) here because of the dust. I think we’re the first people to rent this newly built out floor, so it is much cleaner than most.

GREAT !!! Your space looks great also. The keyboard made the trip? So you are ready for home worship !!

It’s great to hear the progress. Take care of yourself, GOD has a lot of plans…

I had been thinking about your table this morning. What a great blessing! Looking at your roof top picture, you could have taken Sandy along!

    Love, Dad
